Sift HR is led by Justin Wiegand. Justin worked as a Human Resources Analyst for Shell in Texas and Louisiana before returning to his alma mater, the University of Illinois, to complete a PhD in Human Resources and Industrial Relations focused on fit assessment. He taught Planning and Staffing for Illinois’ top-ranked HR master’s program and was named to the list of teachers rated excellent by their students on multiple occasions. He has presented at various meetings of the Academy of Management (AOM), Society of Industrial and Organizational Psychology, and Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA) and has received numerous awards, grants, and fellowships for his work including distinctions from Ford, Caterpillar, the National Science Foundation, and the State of Illinois.
Sift HR formed naturally for Justin. After repeatedly presenting on the vast data demonstrating the predictive ability of fit assessments over interviews and resume reviews, he was often asked some version of, why aren’t more companies using assessments? Knowing the reason was something other than they don’t work, Justin sat down with HR leaders and hiring mangers to find out barriers to launch. He discovered doubt around assessments’ legality, a lack of knowledge on their predictive ability and how they can be used to improve existing processes like interviews, and concerns on their cost and ease of implementation. He launched Sift HR to break down these barriers and make adaptive assessment accessible to every organization.
Justin has a passion for HR excellence and a deep knowledge of fit evaluation across industries, organizations, and jobs.
Brock Wiegand is an independent client advisor for Sift HR, working directly with clients on employee selection and development. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Human Resources Management certification from Illinois State University. Brock worked alongside Dr. Alexandra Ilie at Illinois State, studying burnout and stress in the workplace and was a Benefits Representative for University HR. He graduated summa cum laude.
After school, Brock served in Mexico for two years as a caregiver for children coming from hard places. There, he saw first-hand the importance of having the right people in the right place within an organization. Sift HR was a great fit for him on his return. Mixing his passion for people, service, and business psychology, Brock brings exceptional customer service, knowledge, and energy to Sift HR.
